SR2's story began almost a decade before its founding in 2025.
HRH The Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman saw the transformation that the Kingdom's defense sector needed — 10 years before it became truly urgent. The Vision was there. The investment was made. But the capabilities weren't delivered.

The Foundations
SAMI was launched in May 2017 by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) as the Kingdom’s national defense manufacturing company.
GAMI was established in August 2017 as the regulator and enabler of the Saudi military industries sector.
Big investment, no results
Local defense production does not emerge. Imports continue and grow. JVs are established with defense primes eager to localize, but no advanced systems are produced locally and fielded.
Eight years on
Virtually nothing needed for modern warfare is being built in-Kingdom.

The private sector arrives
SR2 is Saudi Arabia’s first private-sector advanced defense technologies manufacturing group of its kind.
February · World Defense Show
Vector, America’s leading UAV technology company and innovator building modern wartech for the warfighter, and SR2 sign an MOU at the World Defense Show 2026. The MOU led to the creation of SR2Vector in May 2026, the first US-Saudi UAV company in the Kingdom.

SR2 commences full operations under founder-led ownership. Multiple ITAR/NATO-compliant in-Kingdom facilities online. Four SPVs in the pipeline.
